Professional Learning Communities -Professionals grouped by grade level or content -Choose own configurations depending on needs to look at plans, standards and needs.
Also asking, "What is the professional day look like?" And looking at online training. Another possibility is moving into more personalized coaching models.
Professional Development (PD) is a huge issue for schools and districts. -More PD is needed to support coaches -Selection of coaches must be strategic -Use of Dialogs to embed PD for administrators and teachers that: -monitors use the same way students are monitored - when completing a dialog. -uses data to support evaluation for teachers based on performance objectives - then determine PD for the teacher.
We need ongoing support/training with modeling of interventions and use of technology. Another idea is a focus group to help people "get there" to learn. We also need to provide self motivation - within a group - the "cheerleader." We can also offer support and allocate time to teachers - if it is important, it is within school hours.
These are needed in our district -Standards-based instruction -What does it look like? -How do you select materials for instruction? -Interschool curriculum teams meet regularly for prof. development and to share ideas
