Meeting School District Assessment Needs with Expansive Item Banks

ATI uses proprietary item banking technology to build and manage one of the largest assessment item banks in the nation. Currently the ATI item banks contain 150,730 items and 18 different item types. Included in the ATI banks are 13,350 technology enhanced (TE) items. Items are created and aligned to standards including Common Core and local standards in mathematics, English language arts/reading, science, and writing by ATI’s Assessment and Instructional Design (AID) Department. The banks also include items aligned with Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS). In addition, the Community Assessment Item Banking* (CAIB) item bank is aligned to state standards in non-state tested areas (e.g., music, CTE, PE, art) On average, ATI’s AID Department creates, reviews, and certifies approximately 800 new items each month.

ATI offers both a secure item bank for use in creating district-wide assessments (e.g. benchmarks) and a community item bank from which teachers can create short formative assessments. ELA, math, and science items in both banks are continuously validated using Item Response Theory. Plus, ATI has partnered with Key Data Systems making it possible for districts/charters to access Inspect®, an item bank and suite of over 300 pre-built assessments, directly through Galileo. ATI items are designed to be consistent with those found on state-wide assessment and to provide students an engaging assessment experience. The variety of item types ATI offers includes:
