Galileo K-12 Online Dashboard reports directly link student assessment results to appropriate instructional materials. Based on student assessment results, the Instruction Performance Tracker will display an empirically sequenced list of standards to guide instruction, all of which reduce student level of risk and lead to standards-mastery.  

Streamline Your Selection with the Assignments Button

Galileo provides an Assignments button for each grouping of standards (e.g. standards to move a student[s] from higher to a lower risk). Clicking on the Assignments button generates a list of several instructional resources including Galileo instructional resources and web-based resources. These instructional resources are aligned to standards in the grouping. They can then be viewed, selected, and scheduled for an individual, class, or tiered intervention group.

Choose Diverse Learning Opportunities with Instructional Dialogues and Web Based Resources

Galileo provides students with rapid access to a diversity of differentiated instructional learning opportunities aligned with their learning needs.  This includes resources available in Galileo Instructional Dialogs together with district/educator determined materials. Galileo Instructional Dialogs offer students interactive, multimodal opportunities to learn and apply skills. Additionally, practice items with real-time feedback are embedded throughout the Dialogs along with a brief formative assessment at the end of instruction to help measure impact.

In addition to Instructional Dialogues, Galileo also includes multi-media resources available on the web, such as those from KHAN ACADEMY® and EngageNY lessons. As with Dialogs, these materials may be viewed, selected, and scheduled for a student, class, or tiered intervention group. Plus, when choosing assignments, educators can now search by keyword, standard, assessment plan, and by grade and subject. Also, both local resources and those from the web can be delivered through customized Instructional Dialogs in Galileo.

Did you know that Galileo K-12 Dashboard reports provide educators with the right tools for facilitating data-driven, standards-based, differentiated instruction of three essential types?  Instruction can be differentiated based on:

• skill mastery instruction guided through information from the Test Monitoring Report and Detailed Item Analysis Report;
• standards mastery instruction guided through information from the Intervention Alert and Instruction Performance Tracker Report; and
• pattern of progress mastery instruction guided through information from the Student Growth and Achievement Report.

Various Ways to Create the Formative Assessments You Need!

Galileo^® is designed to be truly flexible, enabling teachers to assess mastery of specific skills and objectives in a way the works best for them. Galileo includes multiple easy-to-use assessment creation interfaces including those in Test Builder and Dialog Builder. Both of these interfaces have undergone redesigns that make developing formative assessments and Instructional Dialogs (including integrated assessments) even easier. These interfaces provide teachers with the ability to quickly and easily create tests from the Galileo Community Item Banks, the Inspect^® item bank, or District-created item banks as well as to create their own items (including TE items). Additionally, Galileo includes technology to import assessments created outside of the system.

The Test Builder interface is designed for teachers and is now optimized for desktops, laptops, and tablets. It offers the following key capabilities:

• search item banks by standard or item family
• refine searches by DOK and item type
• add, reorder, and/or delete items quickly
• view a summary of your current test items at the same time as your current search results
• access online student and teacher previews of your test
• access quick links to schedule the test and print if needed for offline student test booklets once the test is published

And there is more to come. We plan to include an enhanced Item Builder in Test Builder. It will enable teachers to create multiple types of items including selected-response, constructed-response, and technology-enhanced items.

The Dialog Builder interface is supportive by automatically generating formative class assessments built directly into online Instructional Dialog lessons and assignments. Dialogs make it possible to assess what is learned and guide learning by providing immediate feedback during the learning process. Dialogs may include multimedia content such as images, video presentations, and sound and can be viewed correctly on desktops, laptops, and tablets.

If teachers want to use assessments created outside of Galileo – no problem! The assessments can simply be uploaded using Automated Scoring Key (ASK) technology. Teachers can even upload an existing test booklet and create an answer key shell including the standard (optional) and correct response for each item on the assessment. Once created, ASK assessments can be scheduled, administered, scored, and reported on like any other assessment within Galileo.

Creating Classroom (Formative) Assessments with Galileo K-12

The formative assessment component of Galileo K-12 plays a critical role in documenting student learning, evaluating curriculum effectiveness, and supporting differentiated instruction. In addition to containing formative assessments for most standards, Galileo includes multiple assessment creation interfaces designed for the classroom teacher. These interfaces make it easy to select items from the Galileo Community Item Bank or from District-created item banks to build multiple formative assessments aligned to the state blueprint and/or reflecting the district curriculum. In addition, the Inspect® item bank developed by Key Data Systems is available through Galileo for use in formative assessments. 

We understand flexibility is important so we’ve made it possible to copy and edit the Items from the Galileo community banks to produce desired modifications for formative assessments. Formative assessments developed using Galileo may be administered both offline or online. Online assessments can be built directly into online Instructional Dialog lessons and assignments making it possible to assess what is learned and guide learning by providing immediate feedback during the learning process.

Users may access formative bank items aligned with a desired standard using the Search Item Bank tool. The Search Item Bank tool allows the user to search the formative item bank based on the selection of a standard, view the resulting items, and easily include the desired questions on a formative assessment. Over 6 Million Galileo Assessments Administered in the 2015-16 School Year from July 1st to March 1st

The Galileo® comprehensive assessment system is among the most extensive and robust assessment systems in the nation. ATI creates thousands of unique tests each year and supports the administration of those assessments to millions of students. The Formative Assessment component of the system plays a critical role in documenting student learning, evaluating curriculum effectiveness, supporting differentiated instruction for intervention groups, and supporting individualized instruction to assess the achievement of personal learning goals.

ATI formative item banks currently contain over 50,000 certified items. These continuously updated banks are created and managed by ATI content specialists with advanced degrees and years of experience providing users with one of the largest and fastest growing formative and secure sets of item banks in the country. New proprietary technology has enabled ATI to develop seventeen different types of Technology Enhanced (TE) items ensuring that users will have access to the latest item formats when creating assessments. ATI’s partnership with Key Data Systems provides an additional 37,000 formative assessment items from the INSPECT® item bank.  

Planning technology and test generation technology built into the system make it easy to build multiple formative assessment series aligned to the state blueprint and/or reflecting the district curriculum. Automated formative test generation minimizes the work required to assess student knowledge and skills in differentiated instruction initiatives. Automation also provides formative assessments attached to curriculum lessons supporting automated curriculum evaluation. Finally, technology enables teachers to build their own formative assessments and integrate them within their own instructional content facilitating the integration of assessment with instruction.

As we all know, education is changing at unprecedented speed. Formative assessment reflects one aspect of that change. In the last year alone ATI has witnessed a dramatic increase in formative assessment as part of a larger movement toward online assessment. In addition, there is a growing realization of the importance of integrating assessment with the instructional process. Over the past several years, ATI has developed technology, including the Galileo Digital Curriculum Platform, designed to assist educators successfully integrate assessment and instruction. Dynamic Digital Curriculum Platform: Another Innovative Solution from ATI

The Galileo Digital Curriculum Platform supports the integration of instruction with assessment to promote learning. With the curriculum platform, school districts and charter schools can easily integrate existing curriculum content, develop new curriculum content, and modify curriculums as needed. Once curriculum information has been entered into the platform, school and classroom level users can quickly access the information in order to plan and implement curriculum, differentiated instruction, and assessment activities.

The Digital Curriculum Platform is comprised of two integrated components: 1) a series of online Instructional Units defining the scope and sequence of instruction and offering a variety of resources to guide instruction; and 2) within each Unit a series of online Instructional Dialogs enabling the development and delivery of instruction and assessment within each unit. A series of Units can form the complete curriculum for a particular subject and grade. Curriculums built on the platform may include multimedia content, technology-enhanced lessons, assignments, assessments, and tools supporting online synchronous and asynchronous communication between students and teachers.
